Artist Biography

Cousin Curtiss, born Curtiss O’Rorke Stedman, is a high-energy musician known for a unique performance style he defines as "Rootstomp," often described as playing blues music at bluegrass speeds. Originally from Michigan, Stedman began his professional journey by leaving a teaching career in Alaska in 2015 to pursue music full-time, a pivotal life transition that inspired his song "Little Change". Now based in Montrose, Colorado, he utilizes live looping, rapid-fire guitar, incendiary harmonica, and a thunderous kick drum to create a "wall of sound" that blends rock, Americana, and blues.

While he built his reputation as a solo act capable of generating the energy of a full band, Curtiss frequently tours and collaborates with electric guitarist Harrison B. The two met in Alaska and developed a partnership where Harrison B’s gritty, atmospheric guitar tones complement Curtiss’s driving acoustic rhythms. Their dynamic is often compared to a mix of "Mumford & Sons meets AC/DC," characterized by contagious joy and heavy crowd interaction.

Cousin Curtiss has built a significant resume of live performances, including festivals like Salmonfest, Hoxeyville, and Mile of Music. He has supported major acts such as Blackberry Smoke, The Infamous Stringdusters, and G Love and Special Sauce. His discography includes a collaborative EP with Harrison B and the track "Furnace," which serves as a fiery ode to his life on the road. Whether performing solo or as a duo, his shows are recognized for their relentless energy and storytelling
